WRITINGS CONCERNING THE HOLY APOSTLE ANDREW
Unfortunately, much of what we know about Saint Andrew is from sources
which often enhance his life with legend. This is not altogether bad,
however, considering that it bears witness to the great fame and effect of
the ministry of the Apostle. Following are links to several texts which
concern Andrew.
- The Acts
of Andrew
- Believed to be from the 3rd century, this book details some of the
life and ministry of the First Called, including a brief description of
his martyrdom.
- The Acts and
Martyrdom of the Holy Apostle Andrew
- Containing the same narrative as The Acts of Andrew, this
document seems to be another version of it.
- The Acts
of Andrew and Matthias (Matthew)
- From the introduction: "It was long thought that this must be an
episode from the old Acts of Andrew: but Flamion's study of that
book has finally made it clear that there is no place for the tale in
those Acts: and that our story is an early member of that which we call
the Egyptian cycle: it is a tale of wonder with no doctrinal purpose."
- The Acts
of Peter and Andrew
- A continuation of The Acts of Andrew and Matthias.
